Understanding the Science behind Pressure Redistribution Devices – Bridging the Theory-Practice Gap



The objectives of this session were to enable the participant to:

  • Understand the role of correct seating and pressure redistribution for pressure ulcer prevention.
  • Identify the key risk factors for pressure ulcer development in the seated individual.
  • Discuss the process of assessment of the “at risk” seated individual.
  • Understand the methods currently used to prevent pressure ulcers in the “at risk” seated individual.
