Moving from pilot projects to routine care: Overcoming the obstacles

When moving eHealth projects from isolated pilot projects to large scale deployment a lot of obstacles need to be considered. This session set focus on what key factors need to be in place in order to successfully scale-up eHealth implementation. The first presentation gave a brief introduction to the Momentum blueprint offering guidance on telemedicine deployment by providing a systematic overview of enabling factors and barriers. With an outset in the EU funded projects Renewing Health and United4health the session then moved on to highlight what evidence is needed to gain support from decision makers and give status on what evidence is currently available. This included a discussion on the important choice of study design when evaluating the effect of implementing these technologies. Finally the session ended by looking at barriers and facilitators related to implementation when technologies meet the frontline clinical staff.
